Healing Conversation Circles
A healing conversation circle is a gathering of friends and family who, after viewing A Glory from the God want to explore ideas and feelings about the issues raised in the film. It is a time for deeper thought and reflection.
A Glory from the God is being shown to groups in churches, synagogues, schools, women's organizations, business groups, chambers of commerce and living rooms across the country. We hope this documentary will inspire you to talk to one another, an important step in creating a community of global and personal change. It is a chance to support and motivate each other and explore the definition of activism.
Organizing and creating a viewing, even in your own living room with your children and family, offers an opportunity to educate and discover the many ways to express your gifts and skills.
Questions to start the Conversation
At the end of A Glory from the God a remarkable women with tears streaming down her face, stands up and recounts how hearing the stories in the film has forever changed her life. The woman obviously has been touched deeply, perhaps by reflecting on her own story. The healing power of telling our stories is one of the most compelling messages in the film. Storytelling is an ancient tradition that helps form and strengthen bonds, affirms the value of listening and empowers the teller.
-
What touched you most about the woman's tearful response?
-
In speaking to the group of American women about her experiences in Sudan, Gloria says she does not come from people "overwhelmed" by struggle and hardship. How much do you think our past influences how we move and act in the world? How can that help us? How can it hurt us?
-
Can you recall other stories someone has shared with you that have touched your heart? Share one of them? Why do you think they struck you so profoundly?
-
Discuss some of the common struggles shared by the women in the IDP camp in Sudan and marginalized women in this country. What are some of the possible common solutions?
There is healing in listening and bearing witness. By stirring our compassion we become each other's keepers.
The people involved in the A Glory from the God project are all on roads with no road maps. We all have heard a call that set our paths on a journey of common purpose. We never know who we are going to meet or the gifts we will use on the roads we travel. Along the road, we have learned a couple of valuable lessons; we all have something to give and this journey is amazing.

Road Maps to Purpose
These questions are designed to help you find your 'Road Map'. Do it your way by journaling, writing on a scrap of paper at your local coffee haunt, typing on your computer. Put on music and dance your answer. Light a candle, pick up paints and color your answers!
Some questions may have no answers but are provocative and bring responses in other ways. Going deeper is a process of beginning to truly acknowledge how you know the answer. Here are some questions to start the process.
-
How and where do answers show up for you?
-
Describe an experience that has rocked your world?
-
How did you react to that experience?
-
Who was there to support you?
-
How has that experience helped you give to others in your life?
-
Has it lead you to questioning your purpose?.....how?
-
Is that experience laying dormant waiting for you to tell your story?
-
What is the one thing you know that you should do that you have not done?

A Glory from the God: Save Darfur Resource List
Save Darfur
Advocacy coalition of many groups working together to stop the genocide.
Dream for Darfur
Because of China's extensive economic interests in Sudan, leaders in Beijing are in a unique position to persuade Sudan to consent immediately to a true and robust U.N. operation in Darfur. Beijing is also the host of the 2008 Summer Olympics, an event that stands for peace and brotherhood. As the Games approach, advocates for security in Darfur have an extraordinary opportunity to reach out to the Chinese government, in its role as host, to urge Beijing's leaders to use their considerable influence with Sudan.
Crisis Guide - Darfur: Council on Foreign Relations
A six-part guide to the background and continuing tragedy in Darfur, including information, resources and commentary.
ENOUGH
"Our mission is to stop and prevent genocide and mass atrocities by promoting Peace, providing Protection, and Punishing the perpetrators. We use field and policy analysis and strong policy advocacy to empower a growing activist movement for change."
Genocide Intervention
Our mission is to empower individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide. Also calling 1-800-GENOCIDE is an easy way for Americans to take action and stop the genocide.
UNICEF
UNICEF aid workers are in Darfur, risking their own lives to meet the needs of children in what has been called the most dangerous place on earth.
Human Rights Watch
In-depth reports on the genocide in Darfur.
Sudan Reeves
Sudan expert Eric Reeves has set himself the task of chronicling the genocide of Darfur. His weekly analysis is acknowledged to be the most comprehensive in existence.
Save the Children
91% of donations to Save the Children reach the field (earmark it "for Darfur").
Sudan Divestment
Check your retirement fund and investments; make sure you are not contributing to genocide. Fidelity is not the sole target for divestment campaigns (Berkshire Hathaway, JP Morgan Chase, Templeton, and Allianz are all major investors) and most Americans who don't hold stock with Fidelity can still engage in Sudan divestment by pressuring their state pension plans to divest.
