Donald MacLachlan:
In September, I had the privilege of attending the initial presentation of "A Glory From The God" at the Museum of Fine Arts. After seeing the first part of the documentary and hearing the story of how it is evolving, I knew that there was an opportunity for me to be of assistance. Later that evening as I was riding home I was inspired to create the Journey Angel Neck charms. For me, it was the perfect way to use my art in just the way I have always intended it to be used. By selling these beautiful and unique charms and donating a percentage to help in the completion of this important documentary about hope and the difference we each can make in the world, much of what I want to do is being satisfied. The wearer receives the blessings of the angels inscribed in the charms, the healing power of the gemstones and a great way to donate to this cause. I get to keep on creating. And the makers of the documentary get to continue their work. All of us, and more importantly, the women and children of the Sudan benefit. For me, it doesn't get better.
I have lived most of my life on the North Shore of Massachusetts. After receiving a Bachelor's degree from Bates College and a Doctor of Dentistry from Tufts, I practiced dentistry in Boston for fifteen years. I then attended the Museum of Fine Arts School where my prime focus was jewelry as art. Since then my work has sold in many galleries across the country including Quaadrum Gallery at Chestnut Hill, Aaron Faber Gallery in New York, Fairchild and Co. in Santa Fe and currently at the Bowersock Gallery in Provincetown. I have recently received a Spectrum Award from the American Gem Trade Association for my unique style of design.
Using diamonds and other precious gemstones in combination with silver and high carat gold I create unique pieces of hand fabricated jewelry. The inspiration for my work has been the beauty of my native New England forests, mountains and beaches. The intention of the work is to bring beauty and healing into the world. Each stone vibrates with it's own particular energy and is carefully chosen for its beauty and for its integral contribution to the healing properties of the finished piece. Wearing a piece of Donald M Jewelry brings not only beauty, but a sense of well-being. Many clients say that it is the one piece of jewelry that they wear every day.
